Deborah Lippmann shares how she achieved the award-winning actress' light rosy mani.

Be still, our manicure-loving hearts. As heels, gowns, updos and lipstick shades vie for our undying red-carpet affection, New York-based celebrity manicurist Deborah Lippmann gets our vote for most coveted nails on the carpet. “It’s my best awards season ever,” said Lippman of her client list. “I’m pretty blessed.”

On Sunday, Lippmann’s handiwork was sported by host Ellen DeGeneres and her wife, Portia de Rossi, American Hustle nominee Jennifer Lawrence, and 12 Years a Slave best supporting actress winner, Lupita Nyong’o -- whose pale blush-colored tips popped against her powder blue Prada gown.

“Rather than trying to go with the eye or the lip -- which is often the direction we take inspiration from -- we went with her jewelry, because she has some opals going on.” Lippmann painted Nyong’o's nails with a Gel Lab Base Coat for long-lasting wear, followed by the pale, shimmery shade La Vie en Rose from her eponymous nail polish line’s spring 2014 collection, Spring Reverie. The manicurist applied three coats to “really bring out the opalescence and complement her jewelry,” and completed the elegant look with a Gel Lab Top Coat.

Lippmann has worked with Nyong’o throughout awards season, admitting how impressed she was that the starlet’s almond-shaped nails have withstood so many polish changes, including a dark boysenberry shade worn on Saturday's red carpet at the Film Independent Spirit Awards. “We went from super dark to iridescent,” said Lippmann. “She can wear any color.”
