The first-time Academy Awards emcee is bringing his own special materials writers into the room

Oscar producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron on Tuesday unveiled their special materials writing team for host Neil Patrick Harris.

The Oscar host will work alongside head writer Dave Boone, a veteran of eight Oscar telecasts and a winner of two Emmys for his work on the 63rd and 64th Tonys. Others working with Harris include writer-producer Paul Greenberg, who won an Emmy for his work on the 63rd Tony Awards; Mason Steinberg, who worked on the 84th Academy Awards show; and Derek DelGaudio, who wrote and co-starred in Nothing to Hide, a theatrical magic show directed by Harris.

Also writing for Harris' 87th Oscars show are comedy writer Liz Feldman (The Ellen DeGeneres Show); Paula Pell, a writer on Saturday Night Live for two decades; and Tim Carvell, another Oscar telecast veteran who is currently a writer and executive producer on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.

The Flash and Arrow writer Greg Berlanti was earlier announced as head writer for the 2015 ABC telecast, while Hamish Hamilton will direct. The 87th Academy Awards will air live on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015, on ABC.
