Oscars: Mary J. Blige Peforms "Mighty River" From 'Mudbound'

The song is nominated for best original song at the 90th Annual Academy Awards.

Mary J. Blige on Sunday night took the Oscar stage to perform "Mighty River" from the drama Mudbound. Blige is a multiple nominee this year, being the first person ever to be nominated twice in the same year for best original song and best supporting actress.

The singer-actress wore a pink halter dress with long sparkling earrings. She belted the lyrics as a crowd of backup singers dressed in black attire clapped behind her. An array of clouds appeared on the stage and on the screen while video of the film played behind her.

"Life is a teacher, time is a healer/And I'm a believer like a river wild," Blige sang.

Mudbound takes place on a rural farm in Mississippi and focuses on two men that must deal with racism after returning home from World War II. The film is nominated for best cinematography and adapted screenplay.
