Oscars: Why Jodie Foster Was on Crutches

Foster presented the best actress award alongside Jennifer Lawrence at Sunday's Oscars and joked that Meryl Streep 'I, Tonya'ed' her.

Jennifer Lawrence and an injured Jodie Foster took the stage at the 90th Academy Awards on Sunday to present the award for best actress, which went to Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri star Frances McDormand.

Lawrence asked Foster — who was on crutches — what happened to her.

"Streep. She I, Tonya-ed me," Foster replied, referencing the Tonya Harding biographical film starring Margot Robbie.

"No, it's cool. You know, she tripped me once," Lawrence joked. The cameras continued to flash to Streep, who laughed the entire time.

A rep for Foster told The Hollywood Reporter that the actress was actually injured in a fall while skiing.
