Oscilloscope teams with Warner Bros. digital

Studio will digitally distribute 'The Garden,' 'Dear Zachary'

Oscilloscope has pacted with Warner Bros.' digital unit for its new media distribution.

Warner Bros. Digital Distribution will exclusively handle releasing to digital outlets for the film company startup, including download-to-own platforms and VOD.

The agreement comes on the heels of Warners' Digital releasing Oscilloscope's Michelle Williams drama "Wendy & Lucy" in the spring on VOD and digital platforms. Time Warner Cable, Comcast and iTunes are among those that have made the pic available.

Oscilloscope, which specializes in the acquisition and release of boutique films, has purchased rights to the Los Angeles-set inner-city tale "The Garden" and the murdered-father exploration "Dear Zachary." Both will be among the titles released on digital platforms this year via Warners.

Said company founder Adam Yauch, the former Beastie Boy with a penchant for speaking his mind: "We went out to breakfast with these cats, had a good time hanging out. So I said, 'What the hell, they seem like they know what they're doing; let's do this.' "

Most of the company's films will appear in the windows after the end of their theatrical runs, though some will go day-and-date with a theatrical release.
