Otto, Scherfig join Sydney film festival jury

Scherfig's 'An Education' screening out of competition

SYDNEY -- Australian actress Miranda Otto and Danish director Lone Scherfig will join jury president Rolf de Heer as judges of the official competition at this year's Sydney Film Festival.

"Miranda Otto and Lone Scherfig bring great intelligence and integrity to determining the winner of the Sydney Film Prize," festival director Clare Stewart said in making the announcement Wednesday.

Scherfig's latest feature, "An Education," will screen out of competition as the festival's closing night film June 14, when the winner of the official competition will be named.

The remaining two judges on the competition jury will be announced prior to the festival's June 3 opening night.

A total of 12 Australian and international features will compete for the AIS$60,000 Sydney Film Prize, with the competition now in its second year.
