Outfest adds new events, panels

2009 edition to include QandAs, sing-a-longs

Outfest 2009, the 27th Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, has added several new events and panels to its lineup, including a sing-a-long screening of "Funny Girl" at the Ford Amphiteatre in Hollywood.

The fest also will offer Q&As with the talent and creative teams of Fox's new musical series "Glee" and HBO's drama "Big Love"; a panel "Words, Pictures and Music" about musicals on the big screen with participants Bill Condon, Leslie Dixon, Peter Barsocchini and H.P. Mendoza, whose new musical "Fruit Fly" screens following the panel.

Other events include a Screenwriting Lab Reading; a screening of Sandra Bernhard's "Without You I'm Nothing"; free screenings of the documentary "Before Stonewall" on the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots; Debra Chasnoff's new doc "Straightlaced"; a family screening of "Kung Fu Panda;" a sneak peek screening of "Making the Boys," a documentary about "The Boys in the Band" and a special screening of "Prayers For Bobby," the telefilm starring Sigourney Weaver.
