Former OWN Exec Danny Villa Joins MME/Filmpool USA
All3Media's newly launched studio will create and produce American series and adapt formats from its Germany-based parent company.
Danny Villa, a former development and programming executive at OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network, has been named executive vp at All3Media's MME/Filmpool USA, a newly launched studio that will create and produce American series and adapt formats from its Germany-based parent company.
In his new role, Villa will be responsible for creating, selling and producing original series in the U.S. while working with MME/Filmpool in Germany to help the company adapt content from the United States. The German-based company has produced scripted series and factual entertainment including Berlin, Day and Night and Cologne – 50667.
Villa will report to MME/Filmpool Germany CEO Christian Franckenstein while collaborating with Stephen Lambert, chairman of Los Angeles-based production studio All3Media America, and its president, Eli Holzman.
"We chose Danny to lead MME in the U.S. based on his great passion for his work, his knowledge of the marketplace and his track record in the business," Franckenstein said. "We look forward to sharing great success together in partnership with Stephen, Eli and their team at All3Media America."
Added Holzman: "Danny is one of brightest executives working in television. Stephen and I are thrilled he has agreed to join the all-star team of company leaders we are assembling at All3Media America. And we intend to support him fully as he builds MME/Filmpool's U.S. business."
Before joining MME/Filmpool USA, Villa launched the U.S. operation for TwoFour America, where he oversaw development and production of several projects.
Before that, he was vp development and programming at OWN. He began his career at MTV in talent and series development.
