Palisades Media snaps up Tartan U.K. library

U.S. company secures majority of 400 movie titles

LONDON -- U.S. print and advertising company Palisades Media Corp. has acquired a majority of Tartan Films U.K.'s 400-plus film library as part of a drive into digital delivery.

Palisades picked up Tartan's U.S. library assets in May when the distributor shuttered its stateside home video arm. Tartan subsequently went into administration last month and laid off its entire staff.

Palisades said it will continue to purchase new titles for both territories from the present sales agents and licensors.

"We are very excited about this acquisition and see the potential for great synergy between the U.S. and U.K. titles in marketing, digital and the future evolving delivery systems," Palisades Media chairman and CEO Vin Roberti said Wednesday.

The Tartan catalog includes such films as "Super Size Me," "The Cooler," "Secretary," "Etre et Avoir," "In the Mood for Love," "La Haine," "The Last Seduction" and "Battle Royale."

Palisades Media Corp. and its subsidiary Palisades Pictures provide print and advertising financing for the independent film market.

The acquisition of Tartan will bring the Palisades library to nearly 600 titles.
