Palm Springs Film Fest to Honor Ben Affleck, Danny Boyle

The Town director and star Ben Affleck and 127 Hours director Danny Boyle are receiving special honors at the Palm Springs International Film Festival in January.

Affleck will receive the Chairman's Award "for his ability to do it all," according to festival chair Harold Matzner.

Boyle will be the recipient of the Sonny Bono Visionary Award, which has previously been awarded to directors such as Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge) and Gus Van Sant (Milk).

The festival runs Jan. 6-17, and will also honor Javier Bardem, Robert Duvall, and Natalie Portman, among others, this year.
