Par Vantage has the 'Details' for Kay horror film

Paramount Vantage has purchased the horror script "Details" from writer Dan Kay.

Based on a short story by British fantasy writer China Mieville, "Details" revolves around a girl who disappears after having uncovered a demonic force that only she can see and her father, who stops at nothing to bring her back.

Jason Blum of Blumhouse Prods. will produce the film with Steven Schneider and Ian Levy serving as executive producers.

" 'Details' is exactly the kind of smart, high-concept horror film we've been looking for," said Amy Israel, Vantage exec vp production and acquisitions, who will oversee the project for the studio along with vp production Chad Hamilton and creative exec Rachel Eggebeen.

"Details" marks a reunion of Israel and Blum who were acquisition executives at Miramax before launching their own company, Blum Israel, where they made the HBO movie "Hysterical Blindness." The two also produced "Griffin and Phoenix" together.

"This is a high-concept, modestly budgeted horror film which there seems to be a real demand for," said Blum, who will be working with Schneider for the first time since bringing the producer's Room 101 company into the Blumhouse fold. "I'm very excited to be working with Amy again and with John Lesher."

Screenwriter Kay has another script in production, the indie "Timber Falls," for Ascendant Pictures and director Tony Giglio.
