Paramount reaches 'Capacity'

Myriad sells Matthew Broderick pic to U.K.

More Berlinale coverage

BERLIN -- Myriad Pictures has sold "Diminished Capacity" to Paramount for all U.K. rights. The comedy will be released theatrically.

"Capacity," an adaptation of a novel by Sherwood Kiraly, stars Matthew Broderick, Virginia Madsen and Alan Alda and follows a man and his uncle, both dealing with memory problems, trying to sell a valuable baseball card.

Myriad unveiled the movie at 2008's Sundance and was selling it at Cannes. IFC acquired the film, releasing it theatrically last summer. A sale many months after the opening was unexpected for Myriad.

"It's nice to know that studios are paying attention and that people can reconsider films," Myriad president Kirk D'Amico said. "This was a pleasant surprise."
