Paris Fashion Week Fall 2013: Talbot Runhof Makes a Red Carpet Run
We caught up wit the Munich-based design duo, who are currently making headway in Hollywood.
PARIS — Munich-based designers Johnny Talbot and Adrian Runhof have been in business together for some 20 years, but it’s only recently that their sequined gowns and lacy cocktail dresses started showing up on red carpets. (Kristen Stewart sported the label to the AMPAS Governors Awards in December while Helen Hunt went with a rouched satin asymmetrical gown for the DGA Awards last month.)
At the brand’s Paris Fashion Week presentation Friday, Talbot — who hails from Nashville, Tenn. — told us that the sudden red carpet push has a lot to do with timing.
“We are more aware of the power of Hollywood,” said the designer, whose dresses are available at Neiman Marcus, Saks and other boutiques across the States. “We always had the tools to do it, but now we have a great U.S. PR team making it happen.”
Indeed, Talbot Runhoff’s M.O. is 1950s Hollywood glamour, which equals plenty of sequined gowns season after season. For Fall 2013, it was all about white and grey, with a touch of lavender here and there. “I was inspired by our new store,” said Talbot of the shop — their first outside Munich— which opened on Paris’ swanky Rue d'Alger in January.
“The color of this dress is the exact color of the floor, it’s almost like sequin cement.”
