"My heart is broken," writes Paris.

Paris Hilton's pet Chihuahua Tinkerbell has died, Hilton announced Tuesday on Instagram.

Tinkerbell is well known as being perhaps Hilton's best friend and definitely her best accessory; she often carried the dog with her in her purse and modeled with her in photo shoots. Tinkerbell even survived attempted kidnappings, including an instance in 2004 when she went missing for a week and was returned for a $5,000 reward.

"My heart is broken," said Hilton in her Instagram post. "I am so sad & devastated. After 14 amazing years together my baby Tinkerbell has passed away of old age. I feel like I've lost a member of my family. She was such a special & incredible soul. We went through so much together. I can't believe she's gone. I will miss her & think about her for the rest of my life. I love you Tinky, you are a Legend & will never be forgotten."

Hilton has been posting photos and videos of Tinkerbell to her Instagram in memoriam.
