Park Chan-Ok's 'Paju' to open Rotterdam

Film originally launched at CineMart co-production market

COLOGNE, Germany -- "Paju," the second feature from fast-rising South Korean director Park Chan-Ok, will open the 39th Rotterdam International Film Festival on Jan. 27.

"Paju," which debuted in Pusan this year, is the tale of a complex relationship between a teenage school girl and the husband of her older sister. The project was originally launched at Rotterdam's co-production market CineMart.

Park's debut, "Jealousy Is My Middle Name," won Rotterdam's Tiger Award in 2003.

Park and the film's stars Lee Seon-Gyoon and Seo Woo are expected to attend the Rotterdam premiere.

"Paju" was produced by Myung Films and released in South Korea by MK Pictures. M-Line Distribution is handling world sales.

The Rotterdam International Film Festival is set to run Jan. 27-Feb. 7.
