'Step Up: Revolution' helmer Scott Speer is directing.

Patrick Schwarzenegger and Bella Thorne will star in the YA adaptation Midnight Sun.

The indie will be directed by Step Up: Revolution helmer Scott Speer. The film is based on the 2006 Japanese movie directed by Norihiro Koizumi that centers on a young woman who has a rare disease that forces her to stay indoors because the ultraviolet radiation of sunlight could kill her. She meets and begins to fall for a young man as they set off on a summer romance.

Zack Schiller and John Rickard are producing while David Boies, James McGough, Hiroki Shirota, Alan Ou and Speer are executive producing.

Schwarzenegger, the son of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver, will next be seen in Paramount’s Scouts vs. Zombies, out Oct. 30. His other film credits include Stuck in Love and Grown Ups 2. He’s repped by Management 360 and Bloom Hergott.

Thorne was recently seen in CBS Films’ The DUFF. She’ll also star in Awesomeness TV’s Shovel Buddies. She’s repped by WME and LBI Entertainment.
