Rachel Brosnahan and Christopher O’Shea join Mark Wahlberg in the CBS Films and Lionsgate project.

Patriots Day, the Boston marathon bombing film starring Mark Wahlberg, is rounding out its cast with the additions of House of Cards actress Rachel Brosnahan and Madam Secretary actor Christopher O’Shea.

The cast also includes John Goodman, J.K. Simmons, Michelle Monaghan, Kevin Bacon, Michael Beach, Jimmy O. Yang, Vincent Curatola, Alex Wolff, James Colby and Themo Melikidze.

Peter Berg is directing the film, which chronicles the events surrounding the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing. Brosnahan and O’Shea will play newlyweds who were at the finish line to cheer on Marathon runners the day of the bombings. Both survived but were seriously injured and their love and devotion for one another remains a beacon of inspiration today.

“The survivors are the heart of this story and Rachel and Christopher are bringing their immense talents and their respect for Jessica and Patrick’s extraordinary courage to the film,” said Berg.

The film is currently in production in Boston and will open in Boston, New York and Los Angeles on Dec. 21, 2016.

Scott Stuber, Mark Wahlberg, Hutch Parker, Dylan Clark, Stephen Levinson, Dorothy Aufiero and Michael Radutzky are producing Patriots Day, which is co-financed by CBS Films and Lionsgate with the former handling production and marketing and the latter handling distribution.
Brosnahan is repped by Innovative Artists, Carole Dibo Talent Management and Schreck Rose. O’Shea is repped by Innovative Artists, Haven Entertainment and Todd Rubenstein.
