Carson Daly's Mom Dies at 73
'Her spark will shine for eternity,' the Daly family said of their mother in an statement to NBC's 'Today' show, which announced the news.
Carson Daly’s mother, Pattie Daly Caruso, died on Sunday. She was 73.
Daly's co-hosts on NBC's Today show announced the news on Monday morning's broadcast, with Matt Lauer reading the below statement from the Daly family.
"It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, wife, grandmother, Pattie Daly Caruso. She passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 17th, 2017. Kiki, as she was known to her grandchildren and many others, touched so many lives with her kindness, her giant spirit and her love of life. She will be terribly missed by her family and the world, but her spark will shine for eternity.”
Caruso served as a longtime TV personality, acting as a reporter on the local television show Valley Views for over 25 years. Caruso became a breast cancer survivor after losing her first husband, Jim Daly, to bladder cancer. Her official cause of death was not announced.
After his mom survived breast cancer, The Voice host praised his mother’s strength and tenacity during the difficult time. “Some people will say, it's not the cross — it’s how you bear,” her son explained, “Her life is a constant example for me of how to bear that cross.”
In 2013, Daly detailed his and his mother's bond and the positive influence she had on him during Today’s #InspiredBy series.
“I think having a strong parent has just been such an inspiration, because it's a constant reminder for me to find my own pillar of strength and to be that for my own growing family,” Daly said of his mother.
Caruso is survived by her son Carson, daughter Quinn, five grandchildren and husband Richard.
