Paul Andrew Named Creative Director of Salvatore Ferragamo
The designer previously served as the house's design director of women's footwear.
English footwear designer Paul Andrew is taking the helm at Salvatore Ferragamo.
Andrew has been named the Italian fashion house's creative director of womenswear, effective immediately. He first joined the company in September 2016, when he was appointed design director of women's footwear.
In his new role, Andrew will have oversight over the development of all women's product categories, as well as the creative contents of all marketing, communication and images.
"I am grateful for the confidence and trust the Ferragamo group and family have put in me," said Andrew. "It has been a privilege to work with the expertise of one of the world’s great fashion and leather goods houses. I am thrilled by the opportunities that lay ahead in forging a single, powerful identity for a new Ferragamo woman."
Andrew previously worked at Donna Karan, Calvin Klein, Narcisco Rodriguez and Alexander McQueen before launching his eponymous women's shoe line in 2012. He then expanded into men's footwear in 2016, and in that same year, he won the CFDA Fashion Awards Swarovski Award for Accessory Design. His elegant, well-crafted designs have been worn by Amal Clooney, Allison Williams, Emmy Rossum and more.
Andrew's flattering red-carpet designs make him the ideal candidate for the brand that has a long Hollywood history. The late Salvatore Ferragamo, who counted Judy Garland and Marilyn Monroe as clients, designed shoes for films like The Ten Commandments in 1923 and then opened the Hollywood Boot Shop in Los Angeles that same year.
Andrew's first collection for Ferragamo will make its debut during the fall 2018 season.
