Canadian TV Head Paul Robertson Dies at 59 After Pancreatic Cancer Battle
The Shaw Media topper was a major buyer of U.S. primetime shows at the LA Screenings
Paul Robertson, Canada's top buyer of U.S. network series at the Los Angeles Screenings, died on Tuesday after a two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 59.
A 30-year Canadian broadcast and marketing veteran, Robertson was most recently president of Shaw Media.
Shaw's Global Television network airs popular U.S. TV hits like the Survivor and Big Brother franchises and the Elementary and Hawaii Five-O dramas.
Robertson took the helm at Shaw Media in 2010 when parent Shaw Communications acquired the broadcast assets of Canwest Global Communications Corp. from Goldman Sachs and Co. and U.S bondholders.
He leaves behind wife Carole and their daughter, Danielle.
