Paula Jalfon Joins Shine Group as Svp, Production

Exec tasked with overseeing the financing and production of Shine Pictures and Kudos Pictures


LONDON -- U.K.-based Shine Group, led by Shine Group CEO and chairman Elisabeth Murdoch has hired BBC Films commercial manager Paula Jalfon.

Jalfon joins Shine as svp, production tasked with overseeing the financing and production of the Group's brace of movie-making labels Shine Pictures and Kudos Pictures. She starts Jan. 11.

Jalfon will produce and executive produce films for Shine Pictures, the joint venture between Shine and Hollywood producer-financier New Regency.

Shine said Jalfon will oversee all aspects of business affairs at both labels and work alongside co- heads Paul Webster and Stephen Garrett, ring-fencing new film projects and finance.

Webster, who worked alongside Jalfon on Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, said he is "delighted to be resuming a creative partnership with her at Shine Pictures."

Currently the commercial manager at the broadcaster's standalone filmmaking unit, Jalfon is responsible for the packaging of films, sourcing third party funding and managing and building existing and new partner and talent relationships. She executive produced Streetdance 3D and In the Loop.

She also served as head of development and production at financier Ingenious Media Investments between 2002 and 2007 and oversaw investments in movies such as Shaun of the Dead, Vera Drake, Hairspray and Hotel Rwanda.

Shine Pictures' output includes Eastern Promises with Viggo Mortensen, Naomi Watts and Vincent Cassel, Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day starring Frances McDormand and Amy Adams and Salmon Fishing in the Yemen directed by Lasse Hallstrom and written by Simon Beaufoy starring Ewan MacGregor and Emily Blunt.
