Paula Patton has filed for divorce from her long-separated husband Robin Thicke, the actress' rep confirms to Billboard.

According to TMZ, Patton's filing includes a request for joint custody over the couple's 4-year-old son, Julian. The paperwork cites "irreconcilable differences" as cause for the split.

Patton, whose film credits include the Mission Impossible movies, and singer Thicke, the son of '80s television star Alan Thicke, were high school sweethearts and married in 2005. They separated earlier this year following rumors of the "Blurred Lines" singer's infidelity. Thicke's album released in June, titled Paula, was dedicated to Patton in the wake of their romantic troubles.
