PBS Arthur Cartoon Gets New Canadian Co-Producer
9 Story Entertainment takes over from Cookie Jar Entertainment as a partner with WGBH Boston on the 16th season of the long-running cartoon series that has aired in 83 markets worldwide.
TORONTO – The long-running PBS cartoon Arthur has a new Canadian co-producer, 9 Story Entertainment, on board for a 16th season.
WGBH Boston signed a new co-venture agreement with Toronto-based 9 Story after co-producing an earlier 15 seasons with Cookie Jar Entertainment, formerly known as Cinar Corp.
Arthur, which bowed in Fall 1996, is based on the Marc Brown book series and focuses on a young aardvark and his family and friends.
9 Story will make another 20 half-hours of Arthur, to air on the PBS Kids Go! Block from Fall 2012.
Cookie Jar will continue shopping the back library of Arthur, while 9 Story handles international sales of the cartoon series’ upcoming 16th season.
