PCCW, Man Utd. sign broadcast deal

England's most popular club ink for broadcast, mobile

English soccer giant Manchester United has signed a three-year deal with telecom heavyweight PCCW to become the team's exclusive Hong Kong broadcaster for its MUTV and associated online mobile content, Man Utd. said Tuesday.

Via its NOW IPTV broadcasting system, PCCW will show expanded Man Utd. coverage, including pre- and post-match interviews, highlights programs and classic matches. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The club, one of the world's richest sporting entities, enjoys a large and loyal fan base in Asia, and in Hong Kong particularly. PCCW is clearly look to offset rival i-Cable's holding of the Hong Kong rights to live English Premier League soccer matches through the end of the 2011-12 season.
