'Peanuts Movie' to Screen at Dubai Film Festival

Charlie Brown and friends will be part of this year's Cinema for Children sidebar.

The Dubai International Film Festival's Cinema for Children sidebar will screen The Peanuts Movie, among other films, next month.

Directed by Steve Martino, the animated film sees Charlie Brown embark on a life-changing quest and Snoopy takes to the skies to take on his nemesis, the Red Baron.

Other films set for the kids segment of the festival are Thale Persen's Valley of Knights: Mira’s Magical Christmas, set in the regular world and the magical world and about two children looking to protect a queen from an evil lord; Nagesh Kukunoor's Rainbow, about siblings who embark on a journey to the meet Shah Rukh Khan; Savva. Heart of the Warrior from Maksim Fadeev, which focuses on a boy who must save his family and their village from vicious hyenas; and Birds of Passage, directed by Olivier Ringer, an adventure featuring a girl in a wheelchair and a duckling.

Myrna Maakaron, the Dubai festival’s Cinema for Children programmer, said: "This year's Cinema for Children lineup really does stand out from the crowd. The variety in subject matter, style and tone provides the opportunity for everyone to find something to love at this year’s DIFF. All of our films this year are imbued with a sense of genuine wonder at the world that people of all ages can appreciate."

The 12th annual Dubai International Film Festival runs Dec. 9-16.
