Permira has eye for prod'n shingle

COLOGNE, Germany -- U.K. equity group Permira is eyeing Me Myself & Eye, one of Germany's leading TV production companies -- barely a month after announcing its $4 billion deal to acquire German broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1 with KKR.

According to sources near MME, Permira is offering between €6.70-€6.90 ($8.70-$8.90) a share for MME.

Reports of an impending deal sent MME shares soaring. By late Monday, they were up €3.5 to €5.90 ($7.60).

But Permira, which recently bought leading U.K. independent television production company All3Media for $625 million, isn't the only company circling the German producer. A report in German business daily Handelsblatt said that Dutch format giant Endemol also was interested in MME.

Berlin-based MME produces a slate of hit formats including "Einsatz in vier Waenden" and "The Dome" for German TV.

In addition to All3Media, Permira also controls, together with KKR, pan-European broadcaster SBS Broadcasting. Pending approval of its $4 billion takeover of ProSiebenSat.1, which is expected by mid-March, Permira and KKR plan to merge ProSieben with SBS.
