Peter Kujawski Appointed Director of Universal Pictures International Productions
It's a newly created position at the studio
Universal evp worldwide acquisitions Peter Kujawski will become the first managing director of Universal Pictures International Productions, Universal chairman Donna Langley announced today.
The division he'll run in the newly created role is focused on expanding Universal's international presence through local productions, financing partnerships and acquisitions in worldwide markets, while acquiring English-language films from around the globe. He will continue to report to Langley.
"The international theatrical production and acquisition space is an incredibly important growth area for Universal, and Peter is the right person to lead our efforts," Langley said in a statement. “He has great talent and filmmaker relationships and a unique perspective on what resonates with a global audience, which will be invaluable to our company as we continue to find opportunities to invest and partner in great local films."
Kujawski will oversee teams in Los Angeles and London and will work with divisions including Focus Features, Universal Pictures International Entertainment, and NBCU International Television Distribution group.
He came to Universal as evp worldwide acquisitions in 2011 from Focus, the studio's specialty division, where he served as evp international sales. At Universal, he's helped handle the international releases of films including Zero Dark Thirty, The Wolf of Wall Street and Boyhood, and he's overseen Focus' acquisitions since last year.
