Daisy Ridley and Elizabeth Debicki are joining Peter Rabbit.
James Corden is voicing the titular role of Columbia's live-action/CG adaptation of Beatrix Potter's books, alongside Rose Byrne as Bea.
Will Gluck will direct the film, which is being described as a modern interpretation centering on the rivalry between mischievous young hopper Peter Rabbit and Mr. McGregor, a man trying to maintain a rabbit-free garden.
Columbia Pictures is teaming with Frederick Warne & Co., part of Penguin Random House U.K., for the film. It will be made at Animal Logic, the Australian-based animation and visual FX production studio that also made The Lego Movie. Production is set to start in January 2017 for an April 2018 release date.
Gluck (Olive Bridge Entertainment) and Zareh Nalbandian (Animal Logic Entertainment) are both attached to produce the feature, with Doug Belgrad serving as executive producer. The screenplay was penned by Rob Lieber with revisions by Gluck. Jodi Hildebrand of Olive Bridge and Jason Lust will also serve as executive producers.
Ridley signed on to Peter Rabbit after her breakout role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens last year. Aside from the follow-up Star Wars: Episode VIII, she will star in the Hamlet reimagining Ophelia with Naomi Watts, the dramatic thriller Kolma and the adaptations Chaos Walking and The Lost Wife. She is repped by CAA and Sloane, Offer.
Debicki of The Night Manager and The Man From U.N.C.L.E. will next be seen in the drama The Tale, the adaptation Breath, the sci-fi thriller God Particle and the sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. She is repped by CAA and United Management.
