Petition Calls on Jon Stewart to Moderate Presidential Debate

One of the Democratic candidates, Martin O'Malley, also promoted the petition.

Jon Stewart fans are petitioning for the former Daily Show host to moderate a 2016 presidential debate.

The petition, titled "We want Jon Stewart to moderate a 2016 presidential debate," was created two weeks ago and has 105,571 signatures of the 150,000 needed as of Thursday afternoon.

"Jon Stewart is more than qualified to tackle the moderating job. Mr. Stewart has interviewed 15 heads of state, 22 members of the United States Cabinet, 32 members of the United States Senate, 7 members of the United States House of Representatives," the petition reads. "and scores of other political leaders from this country and around the world while establishing himself as the most trusted person in (satirical) news."

Democratic presidential candidate Martin O'Malley also promoted the petition on Thursday with a tweet:

Fox News' Aug. 6 GOP debate was moderated by Megyn Kelly, Bret Baier and Chris Wallace. 


As for upcoming debates, CNN's upcoming Sept. 16 event will be moderated by anchor Jake Tapper and CBS' Nov. 14 democratic debate will be moderated by John Dickerson.
