PiFan announces 'It Project' winners

James Leong's 'Camera' takes top prize

SEOUL -- The Network of Asian Fantastic Films of the 14th Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival closed Thursday, with the announcement of winners of the “It Project,” a film project market.

It Project facilitated over 200 meetings for production companies and potential investors for the 15 official selections from eight countries, and four projects from Taiwan Project Spotlight. The winners received cash prizes worth 24 million won ($19,944) and post-production sponsorships.

Sponsored by the city of Bucheon, this year’s Puchon Award went to “Camera” by James Leong (Singapore). NAFF Award went to Daniel Chan’s “Smile for Me” from Hong Kong; “No Excuse” by Kim Guang Tae won the Korea Broadcasting Art School Award. Two film projects – Shin Terra’s “AM 11:00” and “Berandal” by Gareth Huw Evans – received Post-Production Support Award.

The juries of this year’s “ It Project” included Mike Macari, a producer of theAmerican remake of the Japanese horror film “The Ring” and its sequel “The Ring 2” and Tim Kwok, a distribution and finance executive for 20th Century Fox.
