PIFF, Vietnam fest pact for cooperation

Events to work together as Vietnam prepares for first edition

SEOUL -- Two Asian film festivals signed a memorandum of understanding at Cannes for collaboration, the organizer of the Pusan International Film Festival announced Tuesday.

At "Vietnamese Film Night" at Cannes, Kim Dong-ho, PIFF's festival director, and Lai Van Sinh, the chairman of the Vietnam International Film Festival, signed an agreement for artistic, economic and educational exchanges between the two festivals. Both festivals agreed on mutually supporting for the development of Asian cinema. 

The Vietnam International Film Festival is the first international film festival in Vietnam, and has been in preparation for five years. Vietnam Media, the organization which runs the festival, has been collaborating with Pusan for the last four years, and is currently preparing to participate in the festival’s opening on October 17, 2010.
