Pinewood, Studio Hamburg in joint venture

To encourage more International film production in Germany

LONDON -- Two of Europe's most famous studio facility names, Pinewood Studios and Studio Hamburg, are teaming for a joint venture aimed at bolstering international movie production levels in Germany.

The "Pinewood Studio Berlin Film Services" will allow filmmakers to benefit from Studio Hamburg's production and studio services in Berlin Adlershof and Hamburg, as well as from Pinewood Studios expertise.

Studio Hamburg managing director Robin Houcken said: "The joint venture offers international film producers new and cost effective solutions for filming in Germany. We're very pleased to have in Pinewood, a partner that stands for quality, growth and ultimately a great cinema tradition."

Pinewood Studios Group CEO Ivan Dunleavy added: "This is a further development in our international strategy to leverage the Pinewood brand and expertise globally to benefit both local markets and the U.K. creative industries. Studio Hamburg's excellent stages in Berlin, coupled with Pinewood's expertise and reputation in the film industry, will undoubtedly be an attractive offering to many European and International producers that favor the excellent skills base, varied locations and incentives available."

The Pinewood brand is already being exported overseas with a sales and marketing agreement in studios in Toronto and a facility development in Iskandar, Malaysia.
