Pinewood Hires Andy Weltman to Spearhead L.A. Presence for Studio Facilities Group

The former British Film Commission exec will be the public face for the company's Los Angeles arm.

LONDON – British stock listed Pinewood Studios Group is hoping to build a profile in Los Angeles by bringing on board former L.A.-based British Film Commission exec Andy Weltman, the group announced Tuesday.

Weltman joins Pinewood as exec vp, Pinewood USA tasked with looking out for the British studio facilities’ U.S. clients while coordinating international sales for the group.

His resume boasts working with filmmakers including Peter Weir, Wolfgang Petersen and Steven Spielberg on such films as The Witches Of Eastwick, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Dead Poets Society,Green Card, The Perfect Storm and Master And Commander.

Weltman also previously worked as director of development for several independent feature film companies and director of studio operations at WGBH, the PBS affiliate.

The Pinewood brand has rolled out its brand in Toronto, Berlin, Malaysia and the Dominican Republic to date.

Pinewood commercial director Nick Smith said the group has worked with Weltman in his time at the British Film Commission in the U.S.

According to Smith, "his knowledge of the industry and his relationships with key clients both in the U.S. and U.K. will serve Pinewood and our customers well. This is an exciting new hire and one we hope will deliver even stronger results."
