Pinewood TV Boards 'Eye in the Sky' Writer's United Nations Miniseries Thriller (Exclusive)
Guy Hibbert's '38th Floor,' being developed for the BBC, marks one of the first projects for Pinewood's newly launched TV banner.
Less than five months after it was launched, Pinewood Television, the new TV joint venture from the famed U.K.-based production facilities company, already has a potentially major project under its belt.
38th Floor comes from Guy Hibbert, the BAFTA-winning British screenwriter behind the recent Helen Mirren-starring drone thriller Eye in the Sky and buzzy upcoming drama A United Kingdom. A global political thriller set in the United Nations, the miniseries from U.K. banner Big Fish is being developed for the BBC with Pinewood Television having come aboard to co-produce. The 38th floor of the U.N.'s headquarters in New York is where the secretary general's office is located.
Joining 38th Floor on Pinewood's new slate is a series with Sky Atlantic with the working title of Her Love from emerging writer Jane Eden.
"In its essence, it's a love story told through the lives of war journalists, in wars over the last decade that we've all experienced and know about," Pinewood Television's chief creative officer Helen Gregory told The Hollywood Reporter.
"These are good examples of the kind of thing we’re doing in terms of scale," she added.
An experienced British producer who recently co-created and co-executive produced Shondaland/ABC's new series The Catch, Gregory was brought on board in February to head up Pinewood TV, a joint venture between the Pinewood Group and StoryFirst PST, owned by U.S. media entrepreneur Peter Gerwe.
Neither 38th Floor nor Her Love have yet been officially greenlighted.
