Player X makes move in Spain

Acquires Gaelco Moviles in expansion

LONDON -- British-based cell phone entertainment firm Player X has broadened its international reach, acquiring Spanish mobile games operator Gaelco Moviles.

The acquisition is designed to drive Player X's expansion into the European market. The deal will see Player X pay "an undisclosed cash figure" for the acquisition of the company and its assets. The team will remain unchanged in its Madrid base.

The move coincides with a branding and organizational restructuring at Player X, under which the company split into two operating divisions: Player X Distribution and Studio X, the content arm of the company.

Gaelco Moviles will be part of the Player X Distribution division delivering content and portal management solutions, the British company said.

Gaelco Moviles has distribution in Southern Europe via a network that includes Telefonica, Vodafone, TMN, Optimus, Bouygues Telecom and WIND.
