Police raids nab 2 mil pirated DVDs
'Terminator Salvation,' 'Angels & Demons' among discsHONG KONG -- Police and special officers seized nearly 2 million pirated DVDs last week in multiple raids on shopping malls in Manila.
Acting on information from the MPA, 80 police and 30 officers from the Optical Media Board Thursday raided the Makati Cinema Square seizing 25,000 discs. A later raid on 25 outlets at the Odeon Mall netted a further 250,000 discs. The MPA reported that seized discs included recent Hollywood titles "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian," "Angels & Demons" and "Terminator Salvation" along with others featuring child pornography.
Raids the following day at 20 locations in Manila's Quipao District netted 1.5 million more discs, with films from movies from the Philippines, Australia, Bollywood, Thailand, France and Korea. Many were packed ready for export, the MPA said.
