Polish Drama 'The Pack' Renewed for Third Season at HBO Europe
Location shooting on a new six-part season of the show, also known as 'Wataha,' is due to begin in February.
HBO Europe has greenlit a third season of The Pack, its hit Polish original drama.
Location shooting will begin in February on a new six-part season of the show, also known as Wataha, which is set in a beautiful, but dangerous mountainous region where Poland borders Ukraine at the eastern-most point of the European Union's boundaries.
The first two seasons of the original drama, which follows the lives of border guard officers tested to their physical and psychological limits in the Bieszczady Mountains, were ratings hits, becoming the most-watched shows on HBO Poland when they were released.
Shooting on the third season is due to begin in February 2019, on location in the Bieszczady Mountains and also in Warsaw.
"We’re delighted to be heading back to the unique setting of the Bieszczady Mountains for one of our most popular returning dramas," Johnathan Young, vp, original programming and production, HBO Central Europe, said in a statement. "As previous seasons of Wataha and our most recent local Polish original Blinded by the Lights have proven, there is a huge appetite for Polish drama not only amongst local audiences, but in the Central European region and beyond.”
The series is produced by Bogumil Lipski for HBO Poland with Izavela Lopuch as executive producer; Piotr Szymanek is head writer and Katarzyna Tybinka and Marta Szymanek are the series writers. Young serves as executive producer for HBO Europe. And Andrzej Muszynski produces for ATM GRUPA.
Seasons one and two of Wataha are currently available to watch on HBO services in 20 countries across Europe, HBO Europe added.
