Benedict Cumberbatch spontaneously shared a message onstage: “F— the politicians.”
While asking for donations from London’s Barbican Theatre stage, he also called it an “utter disgrace of the British government” for not doing more to pacify the crisis.
Cumberbatch usually addresses audiences with current statistics on the matter, and recites a poem called Home by Somali poet Warsan Shire. (Watch an example of his plea from another night’s performance below.)
The actor has recently fronted the introduction to “Help is Coming,” a short film from Mat Whitecross that promotes a charity raising money for Syrian refugees.
