Donald Trump has canceled his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, saying on Fox News that he has a “political event” Tuesday night and will appear on an episode of the ABC late-night show at a later date when it returns to L.A.
“I have a political event, but I am going to do his show in two weeks,” Trump said. “I have a big political event which I can’t skip and I told him, I said, you know, ‘I have this event; I can’t skip it,’ but I will be doing it in two weeks once I am out in Los Angeles.”
During a Tuesday interview on SiriusXM’s Howard Stern Show, Kimmel — whose show is broadcasting out of Brooklyn this week — said he was not sure what happened, but he was able to book Tracy Morgan in Trump’s place, Politico reported.
On Monday, Kimmel told CNN the format for his interview with Trump was going to be a “surprise.”
“I’m not interviewing him… It will be in studio, it’ll be live, and it’ll all make perfect sense when you see it,” Kimmel told CNN.
Kimmel will be the third late night host to have Trump on his show. The Donald visited Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert previously.
