Donald Trump Says He Should Get a Portion of Megyn Kelly’s Salary for Making Her More Popular

Donald Trump continued to bash Fox News personality Megyn Kelly, even suggesting she should pay him for all the publicity he has gotten her, while appearing on a CNN election special Monday night. 

In a pre-taped interview with Wolf Blitzer, Trump said he was once again verbally attacking The Kelly File host because she does “negative hits” on the GOP presidential front-runner “every night on her show.” 

“And frankly, if she didn’t, her ratings would drop down far lower than yours,” Trump told to Blitzer during the network special in which all five remaining presidential candidates were interviewed individually.

Fox News noted that when Trump is the subject of a segment, there is someone pro the billionaire businessman, includuing Katrina Pierson, Barry Bennett or Roger Stone.

Trump said his much-publicized disdain for Kelly has gained her popularity, and she should compensate him. 

“She’s hotter now then ever before because of me,” Trump said. “She should give me at least half of her salary.”

According to Nielsen, The Kelly File is the second-highest-rated show in cable news, which has been the case since premiering in October 2013.

When questioned by Blitzer about whether his criticism of Kelly, including calling her “crazy” on Twitter, is acting “presidential,” Trump said, “I don’t care. It doesn’t matter to me.”

Trump told Blitzer that while he and Kelly got along for a short while, including during the third Fox News debate — Trump said it was the second debate, but that was the one he skipped — he must once again “fight back.” 

“Every night, [her] show looks like an infomercial of me,” Trump said. “I will let people know she’s a third-rate talent, and I will say what I have to say.”

Trump told Blitzer Fox News wanted him to be part of a special with Kelly.

On Friday, the network released a statement defending Kelly from the ramped-up Trump attacks, saying in part that Trump’s “vitriolic attacks against Megyn Kelly and his extreme, sick obsession with her is beneath the dignity of a presidential candidate who wants to occupy the highest office in the land.”

Additionally, in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter on Saturday, Fox News chairman and CEO Roger Ailes said: “Of course we would welcome having Trump on the air because we put the public’s right to know above all else. Megyn was willing to conduct an interview with him for the broadcast special, and we thought Trump would be willing to answer tough but fair questions — apparently that’s not the case.”
