Hours after her late-night loss to Trump, the Democratic nominee approached a dejected and divided nation with strength and encouragement on Wednesday, a well-needed moment of optimism noted by many watching in Hollywood.
In the blue state of California, the terms #Calexit and #Caleavefornia were trending on Twitter late Tuesday as some Californians renewed calls for a break from the United States after the results. Lady Gaga even protested outside New York’s Trump Tower after Trump’s win.
Among Clinton’s staunch celebrity contingent, many shifted from denial and anger to the next stages of grief as Wednesday’s speech arrived. “I really needed to cry,” praised J.K. Rowling. Others called her everything from an “icon” to a “class act” while thanking her for her run.
On Twitter, #ImStillWithHer was the second U.S. trend on Wednesday morning, only below #NotMyPresident.
See the reactions below and watch Clinton’s speech here.
She would have been a great president. I believe that more today than I ever have. Emails & Clinton Foundation & all. This speech is why.

She still believes in America. It helps to hear her say that.
