In the wake of Monday night’s first presidential debate, Donald Trump has repeatedly insisted that his microphone “didn’t work,” and Hillary Clinton was quick to joke about it Tuesday morning.
“My microphone was terrible. I wonder, was it set up that way on purpose?” said Trump on Fox & Friends this morning, reiterating a claim he made in the spin room after the debate. “I don’t want to believe in conspiracy theories, of course, but it was much lower than hers and it was crackling, and she didn’t have that problem.”
He denied sniffling at the debate, something social media users were quick to call him on, when he was asked if he had a cold or allergies. Trump said, “The mic was very bad, but maybe it was good enough to hear breathing, but there was no sniffles.”
Later Tuesday morning, Clinton was asked about his microphone excuse, and she quipped, “Anybody who complains about the microphone is not having a good night.”
Trump’s sniffling has been mocked widely on social media.

One YouTube user even created a mashup of all of his sniffles. (Watch THR‘s recap video above.)
Clinton was also asked if she was concerned that Trump wouldn’t show up for the second debate. A Politico Vine shows the Democratic presidential candidate laughing and throwing up her hands in a giant shrug. She also reportedly said, “If I’m the only person on stage, well, I’m the only person on stage.”
