Hillary Clinton signed with Simon & Schuster for a new book about her time as Barack Obama‘s Secretary of State from 2009 to 2013.
The untitled book is scheduled for publication in June 2014. S&S acquired world rights.
Clinton “will share her views as to what it takes for the United States to secure and sustain prosperity and global leadership,” said her editor Jonathan Karp.
“Throughout, Secretary Clinton will offer vivid personal anecdotes and memories of her collaboration with President Obama and his national security team, as well as her engagement with leaders around the world.”
She will also offer “her ideas for how the United States can address the challenges of a dramatically changing world in the 21st century.”
The book is likely to fuel speculation about a possible 2016 presidential run by Clinton. A summer 2014 book tour is perfectly timed to help Democratic candidates running in that year’s mid-term elections and to test the waters for a presidential run.
Financial terms were not disclosed. S&S has published all four of her previous books, including 2003’s Living History, Clinton’s memoir of her time as first lady, for which it paid a reported $8 million.
Living History has sold about two million copies in the United States.
Clinton is represented by Washington lawyer Bob Barnett, who has also represented her husband Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Dick Cheney and George W. Bush.
