Kate Middleton has recently been seen shopping quite a bit in the chic shopping district King’s Road in London. And now we know why: CHRISTMAS!
But we’re not talking about presents. Pictured here in a $700 Ralph Lauren dress at a London homeless shelter, Kate will have to change outfits FIVE times on Christmas Day with the royal in-laws and her parents at Queen Elizabeth’s sprawling Sandringham estate in Norfolk, England.
According to royal etiquette expert Jean Broke-Smith, “Kate will need a casual outfit for breakfast, a smart outfit — and a hat — for the morning church service, a dress for lunch, a cocktail dress for early evening drinks and a full-length dress for the evening meal.” And nothing too glitzy, gaudy or heaven forbid, revealing.

No word on what Prince William will wear but one imagines he will also have to wear five different looks for each part of the day, something he’s probably quite accustomed to doing.
Kate hit Zara and LK Bennett, where she picked up two cashmere sweaters and a simple black sheath dress. She’s also ordered two evening dresses from Alexander McQueen, designed by Sarah Burton, who designed her elegant white lace wedding gown and wedding reception dress.
We don’t know about you, but we will be spending a good part of Christmas Day in our pajamas and bathrobe. Ah, the joys of being non-royal.
