Does Donald Trump have a cold?
Moments after the first presidential debate of the general election began on Monday night, viewers of the NBC event quickly noticed the GOP nominee appeared to be under the weather.
In his opening remarks during the broadcast of his face-off with Hillary Clinton, Trump could be heard sniffling. The act, on the heels of months of the Trump campaign questioning Clinton’s health records and highlighting her recent bout of pneumonia, quickly had Twitter users questioning if Trump himself had a head cold.
“I’m VERY VERY worried about Trump’s health. What is he hiding?” posted Patton Oswalt, while many others in the media and in Hollywood called out his sniffing. A half hour into the debate, a @TrumpSniff handle was even created.
After the debate concluded, Howard Dean, a former presidential candidate and governor of Vermont, even asked: “Notice Trump sniffing all the time. Coke user?”
The debate, held at Hofstra University in New York, aired live and commercial-free on ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC, as well as cable news channels including CNN, Fox News, CNBC and MSNBC. Watch a replay of the live stream here.
