Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) on Thursday appeared on MSNBC to discuss the recently released uncorroborated and unverified claims made in a Russian dossier that described alleged “sex actions” by President Donald Trump with Russian prostitutes.
Waters, an outspoken Trump critic, told anchor Ali Velshi, “We already know that the part about the coverage that they have on him with sex actions is supposed to be true. They’ve said it’s absolutely true. I think he should go into that dossier and see what’s there,” she said, referring to an investigation she believes should be done by intelligence officials at the CIA.

Waters went on to call for an impeachment of President Trump. “I am saying the investigations must be done,” she said. “I don’t think that you can do the impeachment just because I think or others think. But I think that if we do the investigations, that we will find the connections and I do think that impeachment will be necessary.”
BuzzFeed News originally released the unverified Russian papers in January.
“I was referring to them having a name,” Waters later clarified on Thursday to BuzzFeed News, referring to “Source E.” “They have a real something that was redacted, and it should be further investigated as far as I’m concerned. I’m not saying that has been proven. This certainly gives it the appearance of fact and truth.”
When asked if she would apologize to President Trump for presenting claims in the dossier as verified, Waters told BuzzFeed News she did “not think that apologies are a legitimate part of this conversation.”
Waters told the outlet: “I don’t know that anybody has demanded the president to make apologies to the journalist he mimicked and mocked, and I don’t know that he’s been asked to apologize for the statements that were attributed to him about grabbing women’s private parts.”
