Democrats are getting some help from a Hollywood icon in one of the first early battleground political campaigns since last November.
With a nod to his Avengers character’s name, Samuel L. Jackson recorded a get-out-the-vote radio ad in a closely watched Congressional race in Georgia on April 18.
“Remember what happened the last time people stayed home — we got stuck with Trump,” Jackson says in the ad. “We have to channel the great vengeance and fury we have for this administration into votes at the ballot box.”
The race is to fill a seat vacated by Rep. Tom Price, who was appointed United States Secretary of Health and Human Services in February.
Democrats had been hoping that anti-Trump fervor could translate into an electoral win for 30-year-old candidate Jon Ossoff, a doc filmmaker with several credits to his name. The radio ad will air in Atlanta for several days starting on Saturday, CNN reported.
“Do your friends and family a favor, hell, do yourself a favor and vote on April 18. And make sure to vote for the Democratic party,” Jackson entreats.
The actor has been one of Hillary Clinton’s outspoken celebrity backers during the general election last year. His rep did not immediately respond for comment on his latest radio ad.
