Trump Claims Schwarzenegger Was “Fired” From ‘Celebrity Apprentice’

Donald Trump reignited his feud with Arnold Schwarzenegger Saturday morning when he tweeted in response to news of the actor-politician leaving The Celebrity Apprentice.

Trump claimed Schwarzenegger didn’t voluntarily quit the show, but that “he was fired by his bad (pathetic) ratings, not by me. Sad end to great show.”

The former California governor fired back at Trump’s claim with a tweet of his own, writing to the president, “You should think about hiring a new joke writer and a fact checker.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger Bails on 'Celebrity Apprentice,' Citing Show's "Baggage"

On Friday, Schwarzenegger announced that he would be leaving his hosting duties on the NBC reality series, on which Trump has remained an executive producer, due to the show’s “baggage.”

“I loved every second of working with NBC and Mark Burnett. Everyone — from the celebrities to the crew to the marketing department — was a straight 10, and I would absolutely work with all of them again on a show that doesn’t have this baggage,” he said in a statement.

Trump has been critical of the Apprentice‘s poor ratings since Schwarzenegger replaced the now-president as host of the show’s 15th season, which wrapped in February. The season’s ratings were down nearly 42 percent over its seven-week run, in comparison to the last season hosted by Trump.
