President Donald Trump welcomed the media back from the Thanksgiving holiday weekend with a contest call for the network with the most dishonest, corrupt and/or distorted political news coverage. Trump declared himself the “favorite” president and said the winner will get a “fake news trophy.”
“We should have a contest as to which of the Networks, plus CNN and not including Fox, is the most dishonest, corrupt and/or distorted in its political coverage of your favorite President (me). They are all bad,” Trump wrote on Twitter early Monday. “Winner to receive the FAKE NEWS TROPHY!”

The tweet comes after Trump, who spent Thanksgiving at his private Palm Beach club Mar-a-Lago, claimed he turned down an offer to be named Time magazine’s “Person of the Year” and appeared to weigh in on the Department of Justice blocking a merger between AT&T and CNN parent company Time Warner. His posts also come amid news coverage of his support of Alabama Republican senate candidate Roy Moore. Though Trump has not officially sided with Moore, he discounted the claims — saying Moore denied the accusations of sexual misconduct against teens — and told voters not to support his “liberal” rival.
Earlier on Twitter, Trump railed against Americans hearing only about Russia since he took office, “the phony Democrat excuse for losing the election.” Now back in Washington, D.C., Trump said the upcoming week is a big one for tax cuts, adding, “The Tax Cut Bill is coming along very well, great support. With just a few changes, some mathematical, the middle class and job producers can get even more in actual dollars and savings and the pass through provision becomes simpler and really works well!”
Trump also specifically took a swipe at MSNBC’s Morning Joe. Responding to a Breitbart News story about co-host Joe Scarborough, Trump said, “The good news is that their ratings are terrible, nobody cares!”
