President Trump is drawing criticism for sharing a cartoon photo of a “Trump” train running over a man meant to represent a CNN reporter.
Early Tuesday morning, Trump retweeted an image posted by a Trump supporter that shows a train bearing the Trump label barreling into an image of a CNN journalist. He then quickly deleted the post.
Trump’s retweet comes after Saturday’s deadly Charlottesville, Va., clashes when a white nationalist rammed his car into a crowd of protestors, killing 32-year-old Heather Heyer.

Trump came under fire for how he responded to the tragedy over the weekend. Not until a televised follow-up statement Monday did he officially denounce the hate groups involved in the rally. “We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence,” he said, calling out the KKK, neo-Nazis and white supremacists groups as “repugnant” and “criminals and thugs.”
Initially, Trump failed to denounce the groups by name, instead condemning the violence on “many sides.”
Also on Tuesday, Trump mistakenly retweeted a message from one of his critics calling him a “fascist.”
It appears Trump was intending to share a Fox News story about a possible presidential pardon for Joe Arpaio, a former Arizona sheriff who is facing six months in jail for ignoring a court order to stop traffic patrols targeting immigrants.
The user shared the story to his Twitter, but the president must have missed his comment. “He’s a fascist, so not unusual,” user @MikeHolden42 wrote along with the article in reference to Trump.
After five minutes, Trump removed his retweet from his profile page.
